A Dog’s DaY at Daycare

Dog daycare should be more than just a place to leave your dog when you’re unable to be with them. At Town Dog, we treat your pup to fun-filled days of socializing with other dogs and interacting with our dog-loving team.  In addition to playtime, our trained staff engage the dogs with enrichment activities while also creating time & space for rest.  With over 3,000 SF of indoor and 4,000 SF of outdoor play space, your dog will have plenty of space to wrestle, chase, snuggle, or simply hang out!  Please note that we use crates at Town Dog to help our canine guests settle through-out the day and to nurture a calm environment.

Daycare eligibility depends on the dog and requires some commitment from you!  Dogs that are a good fit are generally dogs who enjoy the company of other dogs, particularly in a large group; dogs who are able to read & respond to the social cues of other dogs; and dogs who are able to settle down in a busy environment, both in and outside a crate.  We also require that dogs are neutered/spayed if they are 6 months or older.  To maintain daycare eligibility, dogs must attend daycare 2X each month.

Safety first!

We are proud to be recognized for our high safety standards.  All of our Pack Leaders are trained in dog behavior, dog handling, CPR and pet first aid.  We maintain a high staff-to-dog ratio and we actively engage with the dogs all day to ensure that they have the best possible experience.  All of our canine guests are required to complete a temperament evaluation to make sure that they are a good fit for our group play environment.  We also require that all of our canine guests are current on their vaccinations including rabies, distemper, and bordetella.

  Routine

We know that dogs thrive with routine so we structure our daycare to offer a mix of play and rest.  Canine guests arrive by 10 am & are separated into 3 groups based on size, age & temperament.  Playgroups move between our climate controlled playrooms & outdoor yards where there is lots of space for the dogs to romp with their pals.  Lunch time is from 12 pm – 1 pm with access to fresh water all day.  All dogs participate in quiet time at mid-day.  We also encourage  our canine guests to take breaks through out the day to nurture a calm state of mind.

Enrichment

At Town Dog we augment our daycare with enrichment activities that engage the senses and challenges a dog mentally. During daycare our Pack Leaders work on manners by playing games such as group sit, place, recall, follow the leader, and wait at the gate.  Not only do these activities reinforce impulse control, structure & boundaries, they also tire your dog both mentally and physically!  Town Dog also offers one-on-one enrichment sessions as an add-on to your dog’s daycare which include toys, structured games and purposeful play.

How to Become a Daycare Dog

Register your pup:  Start by creating a profile for your dog in our system. Once registered, a member of our team will contact you to schedule a trial day. Trial days are available Monday through Friday, with drop-off times at either 7:30 AM or 8:00 AM.

Upload Required Documents:  Before your dog’s trial day, please upload the following documents to their profile: Rabies Certificate; Proof of Distemper and Bordetella vaccination:  2025 Town Dog License.

Trial Day – Before Arrival:  Please plan to arrive about 5 minutes early to give your dog a potty break in our client yard. The yard is located on the left side of the building when you’re facing the front door.

Trial Day – Check in Process:   When you enter the lobby, one of our Daycare Managers will greet you and your pup.  They will then slowly introduce your dog to one of our playgroups.  During this time, we ask that you wait in the lobby or in your car, just in case your dog becomes uncomfortable.  Once your pup is happily integrated into the group, our Manager will check in with you—and you’ll be free to head out!

Trial Day – Outcome:

  • If your pup shows signs of stress or is not adjusting well to the playgroup, our Manager will return them to you within the first 15 minutes of the trial day. We always prioritize your dog’s comfort & safety and we will not charge your for the trial.

  • If your dog is integrated into the playgroup, one of our Managers will give you a call between 9:30 and 10:00 AM to update you. At that time, we’ll let you know whether your pup should stay for a half day (pick-up between 12:30 – 1:00 PM) or a full day (pick-up between 2:30 – 3:00 pm).  A half day trial day will cost $36 and a full day will cost $44.
